Hi Prometheusa3b,

I-Caps is not a bad vitamin supplement for someone with macular degeneration.

For more information about diet and supplements, including the AREDS2 trial (Age Related Eye Disease Study), and a recommended formula for a supplement, please see our information booklet 'Nutrition and your Eyes' at the following link; macularsociety.org/How-we-h...

You will see from the information booklet that it is always recommended that you speak with you GP before taking such supplements, just to make sure that he/she considers them to be safe for you to take.

Best wishes

Hello

I have been taking Macushield, once a day, since my Consultant recommended it 11 months ago. Has Meso-Zeaxanthin, Lutein & Zeaxanthin in it.

Have no idea how well this works as can be the 'placebo effect' but keep taking it even though it is fairly expensive. If my Consultant has faith in it will keep taking it.

Regards

Cormorin

My MD put me on AREDS 2; one capsule 2x a day-1 morning and 1 before bed.

Hi Promethusa3b/ DEFINITELY not vitamin A .. AREDS proved that beta carotene can be bad for the lungs -particiularly in smokers. It's not necessarily good for AMD patients... what you need is a combo of LUTEIN, zeaxanthin and meso-z.. a combo like MacuHealth would be beneficial. many studies coming out saying ZINC (Areds) is bad for you too.. All you need for amd is the carotenoids found IN the actual macula. nothing more and nothing less. meso-z in it's converted form is arguably the most important one too. I wish you luck! You can check out more AMD info on my blog if you like: amdblog.org

Cormorin is right (macushield and MacuHealth are the same thing and the BEST treatment for AMD hands down) That's what you need. try their website:macuhealth.com
