My husband, Rick 66 y, has refractory DLBC Lymphoma. He has had front line and salvage chemos: RCHOP, RICE, GEMOX, HC-VAD, Rituxan/Revlimid.

These chemos have kept the cancer at bay but none have been successful with remission or PR. Rick has just started Treanda/Rituxan. After a week enlarged nodes in armpit and groin areas are shrinking. Severe lymphodema in arm and leg is going down rapidly. Would welcome comments, feedback and experiences from those dealing with DLBCL. Also anyone who has been on Treanda/Rituxan treatment plan. It's been a long journey but we remain positive and hopeful. Have been to MD Andersen who recommended HC-VAD and Univ of Nebraska Omaha medical center lymphoma specialist, Dr. Voss. Currently working with our oncologist, Dr. Stroh and Dr. Voss. We live in Fort Collins, CO. Thanks

Hi,

Not sure how relevant to Rick's case but I will tell you my brother's story. My brother was first diagnosed with DLBCL in 2010 treated with R_CHOP and local radiotherapy.

Was in remission until 2013 when it recurred in his sinus was treated with R-ICE and about 6months later had a autologous stem cell transplant with high dose chemo.

Early in 2015 he had a CNS recurrence. In April 2015 was treated with radiotherapy.

(considered to be 1/2 of treatment dose of radiotherapy to avoid too much damage to the brain). After discharge from hospital he was started on a maintenance dose of ibrutinib ( on very preliminary data that it might work in DLBCL) and amazingly has had MRI's that have showed no evidence of recurrence up to this point. His tumor was positive for c-MYC and BCL-2, markers with a bad prognosis and previously very fast growing. So you may want to explore the possibility of some regimen including ibrutinib with your oncologist. (I just noticed this post was from 2 yrs. ago but will still post this if it can be useful to someone and of course Rick if still relevant).
