Diagnosed with lupus. Positive ANA and positive dsDNA. Fatigue, mild facial rash and pain in my joints, mainly knees. Can I be misdiagnosed with those test being positive? Nervous!!!

It is my understanding that in the end Lupus is a clinical diagnosis (your physician looks at your symptoms/history) as well as blood work and makes the diagnosis. I was diagnosed by history of symptoms with a negative ANA (which turned positive speckled 1:80) positive Ss-Ro antibody and history of antiphospholipids during pregnancy. Fast forward 8 years (on hydroxychloroquine) my rheumatologist retires and replacement decides I don’t have lupus but have psoriatic arthritis based on evidence of erosions and other changes on X-ray of hands and feet) wants me to go on methotrexate and stop hydroxychloroquine. I went for second opininion and with new lab work showing anti-DSDNA and low complement lupus diagnosis reconfirmed. I remain on hydroxychloroquine but no longer see a rheumatologist’s diagnosis as definitive even with anti/DSDNA and low complement. You can have these and not have lupus From stuff I’ve read in the Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC.
