My husbands appetite post op (entire left lungremoved) remains poor, and he is losing weight, does this mean the cancer is not cured?

How long ago did he have his op? My husband had all of his right lung removed (pneumonectomy) and lack of appetite after the op is to be expected, its a huge procedure. I hope in time your husbands appetite will improve, but do bring this to the attention of your doctor and your lung team. Your husband will also have further scans post op which will tell you more. Also make sure you speak to the surgeon who performed the op and get as much information as possible about how successful they think it was (ie was the cancer anywhere else and was it removed). Never be afraid to ask questions and get as much support as you can.

Also, regarding lack of appetite, my husband is on steroids which really help with appetite and energy but obviously you would need to check if this is appropriate for your husband too. (my husbands op was 18 months ago).

Good luck .

Hi, I would imagine lack of appetite is very normal after such a huge procedure, but as above, don't be afraid to ask questions. I'll be keeping fingers & toes crossed! X

I am curious about how long this lasted, Godfrey and Kat. My appetite is still weak after 5 months (right lung removed). I am paying a lot of attention to eating what I really like. (Am in NYC, had a little steak and kidney pudding from a specialty English food store. I could eat that!) Also juicing to get nutrients more easily.
