Hello Presley11,

Skin irritation and rash can be a side effect of immunotherapy, get in touch with your cancer nurse specialist who will be able to advise on the cause of this symptom and the best way to manage it.

If you would like to talk with someone please give us a call on our nurse led helpline Freephone 0800 358 7200

Hi

Yes it seems a common side effect. My hospital originally prescribed a very mild steroid cream but it became worse and I ended up seeing a skin specialist. For the last 7 months I have used Betamethasone ointment and it works well. As others have said see your doctor, the sooner you get on top of it the better.

It's a common side effect - but do let you team know so they can give you some localised treatment for it.

Clem 1 been on Pembro for 18 months the rash early on has calmed down, some side effects can show the treatment is working, I had dry mouth which has almost gone along with 90% of the NSCLC lung cancer so good luck to you hope your side effects are good ones cheers Clem1

I had a horrible rash pretty much all over my body and it was very itchy when I first started on pembrolizumab. I had to shower every two hours day and night to relieve it then use emollient cream. Tried all sorts of creams and lotions to no avail. Topical steroid treatment did very little to help. I was however given steroid tablets and although they turned me into the Cookie Monster 😂 for a month they really helped. I was glad to finish the course and stop eating everything in sight but the rash went. I now use Aveeno body wash and Cetaphil body lotion and have no skin problems at all. Hope this information helps.
