I had it as part of chemo regime with Cisplatin. Can make you sick and I had diarrhoea with it (which is unusual) but they'll give you other tablets to counteract it.

Hi there, my husband was diagnosed stage 4 NSCLC in October. Tomorrow he begins his third cycle of chemo (vinorelbin/cisplatin). The first week went well, he suffered a nauseous feeling but wasn't sick. That feeling has remained throughout but the anti-sickness tablets help a great deal. During the 2nd week he needed more naps, tiredness kicked in, but again, he finds it manageable. His original cough practically disappeared from 1st week of treatment so did his breathlessness. The steroids certainly helped with his appetite. He has gained weight and still has full head of hair. Daily life hasn't changed too much, we just take our time to plan and pace. Tomorrow my husband begins his 3rd cycle combined with radiotherapy daily. I must admit we are dreading it but are reminding ourselves that the tumour has responded to chemo otherwise radiotherapy would not be possible so soon. Staying positive is definitely a must and we can be because firstly, we have 3 daughters and a son between us and three grandchildren. Secondly, I have an uncle who was given the same diagnosis 10 years ago ... he is still very much alive and kicking!! The first few weeks we shed so many tears but we have replaced the tears with much talking, openly and honestly and do our best to be more understanding of each other. Our attitude to his treatment is now "we've just got to do this, get it done and get better"!

My heart goes out to you and I hope you weather the treatment well and go on to live a long and happy life.

Do you have your blue badge yet? That really put a smile on my hubby's face!! So too did his mobility allowance, he is looking forward to collecting his new car in 2 weeks.

Kind regards, Judy

Hi Giblets9

There is some good information on the cancer research uk website about what to expect and the side effects of Vinorelbine.

Thankfully there is good medical management of the symptoms, e.g. if you have diarrohea or sickness. I have placed the link to copy and paste below with the information

Good luck with it all
