Hi all , my dad's recent X-Ray has shown a lot of scarring and a shadow on his left lung , how quickly will he be seen ?
I had a abnormal X-ray I was referred to see consultant took 10 days for appointment then had to have CT scan and other test took 1 month in total from referral before I got diagnosis hope this helps

Hi dg yes had to have biopsy lung function test thats why it takes a month every appointment is a week apart well mine was, may not apply to everyone diagnosed with T2 LC which is stage 2 operable but needed to then have a PET scan to make sure it had not spread, good scan have been put up for operation end of Oct so from start until I get treatment it will be almost 3 months its was a long process but chin up its not always cancer

Hi dg, I was just as tjbro. In 2011 had x-ray in July, CT scan 5 days after shadows confirmed, then weekly procedures until surgery in September and started chemo in October. Obviously times can vary throughout the country depending on area you live. Here's hoping your dad's diagnosis is good.

Hi Rabbie , thank you for your response , it's so good to hear positive outcomes . My dad's shadow on the left lung was detected on Monday 23rd but it's the waiting and not knowing the diagnosis that's agonising , I'm hoping he'll have word from the hospital this week . Kind regards

As Rab and tjbro have suggested it may be your dad has a few weeks of gathering information through various tests. It can be a worrying time, not knowing whether you are dealing with lung cancer or not, not knowing what treatment will be available. The point at which the medical team will be able to say "this is what we know and here is what we are going to recommend" will vary. It can feel like a long time in limbo.
