SusieJo,

You’re so sweet to want to help like this. There’s an organization that doesn’t have Patient boards like this but they do have a Phone Buddy Program. You could be matched with a person who was just diagnosed and needs guidance. They’re called lungcanceralliance.org.

Also from home, you can send letters or emails to your federal and state representatives encouraging them to increase funding for research or programs for survivors.

Susiejo, I'm over 6 years out from my dx and am cancer free but dealing with long term effects of treatment. I too wanted to help and have been volunteering with Cancer Hope Network. They match new patients with volunteers with similar cancers. It has been a great experience for me. Google them.

SusieJo1948-Thanks for wanting to help and be an advocate. I start my chemo treatments on Feb 5th with 4 cycles of cisplatin & gemcitabine. If I would lose my hair, when would it happen? The first week or later? Just want to be ahead of the game.

Thank you
