Yes I had an enlarged thyroid and am left with a goiter. I was given long term (10 weeks), strong steroids because I was diagnosed with radiation pneumonitis. The steroids actually messed up my thyroid and I was on medication to treat that for several months. It didn't help that I also gained 30 lbs! I was able to lose the weight and eventually stopped the thyroid medication. I still have the goiter and I had my lung removed in February. I'm doing well and tomorrow I go for my 3 month cancer testing.

I am now hypothyroid, but was before treatment, but it did get a bit worse for me from Opdivo (Immunotherapy) versus Radiation. Is they any chance you are also on Immunotherpay as this can be a known side effect? I also developed low-grade immune-mediated Pneumonitis from Opdivo and that too is a a known side effect of Immunotherpay and some as posted, also develop radiation induced Pneumonitis.

Unfortunately, all of our treatments have a wide variety of potential side effects. I was treated for both and am now stable and doing well. I still take a low dose of Levothyroxine and it keeps my thyroid levels normal. I have always been totally asymptomatic with the Pneumonitis, and it has not required treatment, however I did have to stop Nivo after it developed for a third time. My Onc is still afaid that IF I go back on Nivo, I may develop a far more serious stage of Pneumonitis, and that's not something I want. Luckily even while "off treament" I've continued to do well and remain stable and it's now been a full year since my last infusion.

Sorry you are having some side effect issues hopeful they are all be quickly treated and you'll have a good response to each treatment. I am thankful to be stable and okay and that's happy news when you have Stage IV Cancer -- I'm now 2 1/2 years into this journey and feel very fortunate that I've had a good response to treatment, despite the side effects. I wish you the very best and do hope they will not become too serious or bothersome
