Anyone use an air intake device like an Airlife device that messure's the air intake when you inhale through a tube? My question is what is a good number to set as a goal? The " result" part of the device goes from 0 to 2500 at the highest level. I only get to 1000 and 1250 on a good day. Yesterday I was,at 1250 but 1 day later I can't get past 1000. I am frustrated about that.

Hi Kenny:
I do use an Airlift, I have found that the longer I use it the higher the number. I set a goal of 2000 but on a good day I can only do 1750. I always use it after taking my meds. Keep a record and let your doctor know. I have found that by walking 3 days a week at 45 minutes each time has helped me to get number up. I think you are doing good with your numbers, but I also understand how you feel with one day up and next down. Think positive thoughts.

Rereading this note and realized that this is also known as an incentive spirometer. LORBICs recommendation that you walk regularly is great. Also, if you have one available, a stationary bike is good for those days you can't get outside.
