Hi Bestbrush - low level laser can be very helpful particularly if you have areas of hardness or fibrosis but it is time consuming and takes some commitment - not a quick fix I am afraid.

Thank you, yes, I suspected as much. My arm went straight back up again after bandaging..the nurses said it could be that the lymph had turned to fat, so I mentioned low level laser at that appointment, they said much the same as you...I was wondering if any of my fellow sufferers had tried it and if so, what results they had had?

hi again bestbrush

i haven't tried laser so can't say anything helpful about that, sorry

i know it's an obvious question, but did they put you in tighter / smaller sleeves after your bandaging? if you had bandaging & got the bulk in your arms down really well, putting the same old sleeves back on again would just let the lymph start building up again & you'd be back to square 1

it just strikes me that if the lymph had gone fibrous / hard / fatty it might not have responded so well to bandaging, & what you need is compression that fits for your post-bandaging arm size

i'm sure they did do all that, but i thought i'd mention just in case

Absolutley agree with norberte - some people find that a flat knit garment post bandaging helps stop the immediate rebound - talk to your therapist about it.

Thank you, its a year or so since then, but what actually happened was that the arm seemed to reduce and about half way through the two weeks, it went up again, even tho I had in fact added an extra layer of bandage on the outside(. I am under one of the leading centre's of excellence and did not have to pay,) the specialist nurses then put me in a made to measure sleeve. I am confident that my case has been managed well. My arm is about 45% larger than the other currently, it is measured on a regular basis. From what I hear generally, I feel fortunate to recieve excellent care. Only recently have I been told to get my sleeve prescribed by my Gp.

sorry bestbrush, i knew that was just too obvious

it's more complicated then - that's the faff, isn't it, how often we think we've got a handle on things then it gets all more complicated again
