I was recently diagnosed and my pulmonologist and I have made great progress in 45-days. I’m on Symbicort and Singulair now. Shortness of breath and productive cough have subsided greatly. I’m struggling now with excess phlegm. It builds slowly and I have to “huff” it up routinely. I can force myself to cough it up, but my body isn’t forcefully wanting to cough. The phlegm is thick and sticky and typically clear to solid white. Does anyone else have this issue? Comments? Suggestions?

I take two puffs of Symbicort each morning, then rinse and brush my teeth. I am not sure it works every day. It depends on the weather but it's expensive and supposed to help me. I also take a puff of Combivent later in the day after walking my dog as she wears me out at times. Sometimes, I have to take a puff during the day due to the weather or too much walking. Or, I just lie down for a while to rest and get to breathe again. Asthma has turned into COPD.
