After a flu like illness I was left with a hacking cough have suffered with bronchitis every year during winter months. Now been given Qvar 100micrograms to be taken twice a day. No timings given so does anyone know the best time to take evening dose to get maximum benefit through night. Many THhanks JMF

I take Qvar at 9:00am and then 9:pm...seems to help

Thanks been back to GP today as have chest infection on biotics and currently feel terrible. Sure I will be better in a couple of days. Taken to bed as advised need to recover.

I think Qvar is a version of Becotide (that might be a UK brand name perhaps?)...it's a very common preventer anyway & is a steroid inhaler so its actions are designed to work over the long-term.

I think the best advice is to space the doses more or less evenly rather than worry about timing. Taking at 8pm will make virtually zero difference from taking it at 10pm on any given day, but if you're taking your morning dose at (say) 7am then taking the evening one at 7pm should be fine. As always though, if in doubt speak to your doctor or pharmacist.
