Struggling with asthma and one of the things I’ve noticed is drugs/supplements in pill form (including prednisone) make my breathing worse. At first I suspected an allergy but completely different compounds with different inactive ingredients trigger similar difficulty. Inhaled drugs seem to help but a number of times pills (antibiotics, omeprizole, prednisone, etc.) have triggered rapid worsening of breathing difficulty. Anyone else ever experience this?

Pills make breathing worse?
Sounds like you react completely opposite to these meds than I do. Hope you get answers. I just completed a 12 day Prednisone taper and 5 day Zpack antibiotic. It worked to open my airways but hasn’t taken care of cough and mucus. Return to Pulmonologist November 8.
I haven’t had it happen with prednisone. However, I was on Atenolol, which can aggravate asthma. So when I was diagnosed they tried to replace it with Cardizen, which really did aggravate my asthma. The asthma didn’t improve off Atenolol, so they let me go back on it.
Then last June I developed afib. They increased the Atenolol from 25 to 50 with no problem, but when they increased it to 75, I was in the ER within 6 hours and admitted to intensive care.
Needless to say they dropped it back to 50.
