I had my ENT appointment last week, I was abit disappointed. He said that he couldn't do anything with my tinnitus because he said he couldn't see anything in my ears. which made me upset. He also put a camera up my nose and said it was very inflamed and also my throat. I had my hearing test was came back almost normal, there was a drop in my high frequency range, he explained it could me for many reasons like simply because I wasn't listening enough or a damaged hearing nerve or worse an acoustic tumor. He's going to send me for an MRI on my ear to check. I'm truly fed up, I got a CT scan and got the all clear. Makes me feel like I'm not out of the woods yet,
Update finally had my ENT appointment. - Living with Anxiety
Update finally had my ENT appointment.
Hello
Thank You for coming on and updating us
As I was reading your post I could see a lot of positives which I know when we are in the middle of what we feel is not good we don't see that
Hearing test almost normal well that's good as maybe none of us well I know if I had a test I would not have perfect hearing and would settle for almost
I had the camera up my nose and I had a swollen inflamed nerve nothing to worry about it can still play up sometimes but most of the time now it is fine
I am sure yours will settle down in time to
I also suffer with tinnitus and I know how frustrating it is but the more you get anxious the worse it will be or so I have found and sometimes there is nothing they can do to cure it but you will learn how to live with it so please don't despair and think that things won't get better because they will
As for the scan do not see that as a negative what they are doing is doing their job correctly , they are not saying there is anything major wrong but so they can make sure when they decide what they can do to help they are just doing all the tests so they can be 100% sure what treatment you may need so see it as a positive that they are running every test to make sure , if not you may have worried because they hadn't
I know it is not easy when we are suffering , but see this as a success , you have anxiety yet you are getting through this step by step and that is something you should feel proud of
Let us know how that scan goes and if you need a chat you know where we are
Take Care x
Thank you for your reply! Yes I did feel upset leaving when he told me he couldn't do anything for my tinnitus, I'm hoping that one day it will just go away! And as for the scan I'm hoping it will come back clear, I will keep you updated x
I know it is not easy when you are worried but normally these scans come back and everything is ok
I find always having a noise in the background helps me with the tinnitus , I even sleep with a fan on at night as he noise from that even though it is not extra loud but it is enough to distract me from the tinnitus , it can be finding ways that distract you from hearing it and when you do most of the time you forget it is there
Will look out for how you get on x
