I am new to this forum. I am currently being investigated as my consultant thinks I am likely to have fatty liver disease. I am due to give blood tomorrow and not sure if they will allow me to. I have raise ALP and GGT levels in my blood.
Thank you

As far as I understand it, you should be able to donate blood. It gets used for a variety of different ways. As well as straightforward IV infusion, it gets filtered to make things like plasma and platelets etc. I would definitely mention the raised levels, when you arrive.
Well done for the good work and your future health.
Fatty Liver Disease is sadly becoming a major problem for us here in the UK, which the government is yet to start taking seriously. Back in 2011 it was estimated that up to 500,000 four to 11-year-old's could have too much fat in their livers. Fast forward 9-years and the trend has become worse.: bbc.co.uk/news/av/health-14....
But, in answer to your question, I really don't see a problem giving blood at this time. Had your liver been at the cirrhosis stage then this would defiantly have been a No No.
I hope you don't have to wait too long to get to the bottom of your fatty liver. I'm glad your seeing a consultant. Many people are just being fobbed off by GP's .
Good for you, and well done for being a blood donor.
