My mother had and died of breast cancer it did spread to other organs .
My sister who is younger had pre-canerous cells removed following an smear test .
Then there's me . Now I've never really thought about getting tested and if I'm honest I don't want too . Is this a thing that can skip generations? Or for example can all women have this out of one family? I did read cancer can take 10yrs to grow in a person's body before it shows its self it is ironic really . I just want to hear people's thoughts on this or any experiences they have had

Assuming the tests you are interested in require no more than your saliva or a simple blood draw, then the next question is what you will do with the results. Best to find a kind internist and have a chat about testing for your health.
Some people in my family have the BRCA2 gene that causes breast and uterus cancer. I really want to know if I have the gene (it's up to you to decide , with the help of a geneticist). I contacted my GP and they booked a genetic counselling phone call. Now I am waiting for a blood test.. I think a genetic counsellor could help you decide to take the test or not.
