Coronavirus

Hi,

I have A M L and after my last cycle of chemotherapy, I was unwell with a high temperature and rang 111 at 11 pm.

I was taken to hospital A & E given an antibiotic infusion and the kept under observation in the Acute Ward and was allowed home thein the afternoon.

Due to the risk of going into hospital, are there any arrangements for patients like me to receive antibiotics at home?

My real name is Ron so I will remind you that is Coronavirus and not Co Ron A Virus.

:-)

I love your sense of humour, Ron. I think this is an ever changing situation, yours situation and your medical team are also individual. My pharmacy has actually stepped up their home delivery service. I am a great believer of asking. Anyway the main thing is for you to take lots of care of yourself and the Leukaemia Care Charity helpline is open Monday - Friday 9am until 5pm and they have a special evening service on a Thursday and Friday 7pm - 10pm. The number is freephone 08088 010 444.

My daughter has AML and they are trying to avoid outpatient appointments currently. Strangely the cancer centre is only allowing patients in whereas the haematology units allows visitors in too. Wards have restricted visitors to 1 at a time, and only for 2 hours. She will go in as an inpatient for a month rather than half in hospital and then outpatients, due to the risks.
