I started LDN three weeks ago, .5 mls and am now taking 1.5 mls. I have noticed a big difference. I was on 2 1/4 grains NDT. Last week I started feeling very 'hyper', thyroid- wise, (palps, sweats, high pulse), so missed a couple of days and then re-introduced at 1 1/2 grains. I also missed the LDN for a couple of days and took 1.5 mls LDN last night. Today I am not feeling great, tired, gut ache, headache. I am not sure if this is too much LDN or not enough NDT and can't decide what to do. I am not seeing my FP until next Thursday. I have seen a lot of general comments online about the possibility of having to reduce NDT, but can't find anything in detail. What has worked for you? Any suggestions.

What to do?
My issue is Fibro, not Thyroid so it's hard to give any kind of advice. I saw your post on our Facebook page, are you a member of "Beating Thyroid Disease with LDN" group? I highly recommend it, they are focused on Thyroid only and have a lot of very good information.
My apologies for not being more help!

Hi Aredtigress, I was a member. I posted something and got one reply - 'everyone's different......', so not impressed tbh. There is a lot of information on there however. I didn't get a response to my FB post either. Maybe everyone's watching the tennis! I found a useful podcast by Dr. Thomas Cowan on PhoenixHelix.com. He recommends holding the dose whilst improvements take place and only raise if improvements stop. So don't increase dose every week willy nilly. I didn't take any LDN last night. Feel much better today so will go back to basics and take .5 for a while. Thanks for your reply.
Thyroid issues are so complex, I do hesitate to give any advice as I'm not a medical professional. Dang, I was hoping the other group would be of help!
All I can add to what you've gleaned is take it slow with LDN. I took 2 weeks at each level and have seen others take a up to 6 weeks. It sounds like your system is responding quickly, so staying at .5 mg for a while makes sense to me.
Let us know how it goes and what your doctor says when you see him.

Scazz: everything I've read stresses "gradual" increments! That applies to the LDN but also your NDT. You indicated dropping almost an entire grain which sounds too much too soon perhaps? As well your LDN dose was increased rather rapidly - again perhaps too much too soon. Your body may need a much more gradual shift of dosages! I'm curious to see what your bloodwork shows when you retest. Please do post your results when you get them so the community can learn from your experience! Cheers.
Thanks M and R for your messages. I had to drop that far with the NDT as I was too hyper. I have been on 1 1/4 grains for a couple of days now and feel much better. I've also split it, 1 grain am and 1/4 grain pm, so I am not getting too much T3 all at once. Before the LDN I was taking 2 1/4 grains NDT all in one go. I took .5 mls LDN last night and will stick to that until things settle, when I'll get bloods done and will post them here. tI took me a long time to get up to optimal dose on the NDT so I am sure I am sensitive to dose changes, of any medication. I'm sure I'll get there in the end!
