Just back from Morrisons. Pure torture on the bread and cake isle!

I don't. I have almost stopped regarding it as food.

Though I could have inhaled a bag (or 2) of crisps.

But but it's low fat and plant-based!

Where did you see this? I googled 'mealforce' but it seems it's a bit of a one-off.

It's food donated (I think) to NHS vaccine centres for the workers and volunteers, thus it seems a bit churlish to complain. For some reason they are very shy about who they are. Another company put their url on the packaging, but when I visited the site it was just a single page that had a countdown timer that had reached zero, and the sentence "Which came first, the website or the sandwiches?". There is a bit more there now, but still not enough to know who they are.

I know Captain Tom's fundraising has been feeding NHS workers, but I don't know if he is responsible for this food.

Here's the thing. There were about 8 cupcakes left, so I knew some would tossed, so I took a spoon to have a taste of the icing. It tasted disgusting. I had to spit it out.

I had forgotten, I was never a fan of American cream cheese frosting. The only time I had had this sort of cupcake was 10 years ago. I could not eat a whole one then, either.

These cupcakes are emblematic of what is going wrong with our food. A small cake, which would not be too unhealthy as a treat at a birthday party, layered with twice as much icing - which is pretty well pure sugar - as cake. It's like the design aesthetic is "how to consume as much sugar as possible". I miss the fairy cakes of my youth; practically a health food in comparison.
