Hi

Can anyone recommend a brand of sausage that isn’t full of carbohydrates and gluten free.

I’m in the UK.

Best wishes

Heck sausages are pretty decent, I think they're 97% meat, and are always gluten free. Looking at nutritional info, they have 1.7g of carbs per 2 sausages.

Tesco finest sausages would probably also be quite good.

Yes, I buy ASDA's "extra special" sausages and they are relatively low in carbs.

I think the trick is to look for very high meat content - less room for carby rusk and other fillers.

Just to confirm, I did a quick check by eye when I was in front of the sausage shelves at Tesco back in late April when I was investigating LCHF, and it was pretty clear that the cheaper the sausages, the greater the carbs.

I love sausages - a few ASDA extra special chipolatas, mushrooms and sliced onion fried in butter, accompanied by lots of buttered cabbage and lots of steamed, fresh broccoli, is one of my favourite easy dinners these days. I'm not doing keto, but still experiencing a small but steady (and enjoyable!) loss each week.

I've calculated the carbs and they're pretty good so long as I have eaten low carb all day. I even have a dollop of Heinz no-sugar, no-salt tomato ketchup on the side - the difference in carbs between that and the 'normal' ketchup is surprisingly big.

Obviously, your sausages will be skinless unless you buy a sausage stuffer. The manual ones actually work very well if you can find an assistant to turn the handle.

But yeah ... if you want the simpler route, I remember Tesco (other supermarkets are available) do have some premium-branded sausages that are 100% meat, although they're a little dry. Too much "healthy" lean pork and not enough fat!

Riverway are lovely, gluten free and a very high meat content.

Tesco sell them.

Hiya,

Sainsbury’s Taste the difference pork sausages (pack of 6) 1.7g carbs for x2 sausages and the Cumberland ones are 1.3g for 6. Really 😋 yummy.
