Recently I saw in Big Basket, ona atta called as Jiwa diabetic care atta.Ingredients are this:: .Sharbati Whole Wheat,Dicoccum wheat,Makkai,Toasted Oats,Methi Seeds,Sand Puffed Benga lGram,wheat Bran,Jeera,Sea salt.

Is it better than purana wheat ka aata for making rotis

On that same context , is it better to mix chana atta with wheat flour to make chapati so as to reduce the quantity of wheat in our diet.

Dicoccum wheat is same as long wheat or emmer wheat.Shooter George is recommending the same.Further they are rightly mentioning that wheat wheat germ.

Emmer wheat of Dicoccum wheat are old unmodified varieties of wheat.

Sing 1990 to 2014 there is 124% increase of Diabetes in India against 45% all over the world.

India witnessed Green revolution around 1960 with modified varieties of Grains including wheat and rice.The wheat and rice what we are eating today is not the same as what we Indians use to eat prior to 1960.The number of chromosomes of present wheat varieties are not same as emmer or dicoccum or long wheat.(You may google for the same.Since Indian diet is based on grains,I guess we are affected most in the world.

However, Most interesting fact about ready made wheat floor is that..'Alloxan'.

All ready made wheat floor are contaminated with Alloxan.This is same chemical used to induce diabetes in rats in laboratories for study of diabetes.

Its clarified further by people that residue amount of Alloxan is not SERIOUS threat for human consumption.

I do agree carbs are carbs....but sure emmer or dicoccum will help us to reduce spikes.
