Hi there.

I did go into remission in the first year. I’ve been in remission a couple years now. My dr had told me that slot of times if you go in remission in the first year it may not come back.

My son was diagnosed at 18 months old. He went into remission in January last year but relapsed in July. Now we believe he has gone into remission again since last month.. His platelet went up even though he was sick. We haven't done bloods since last bloods as they were normal. But we will do them in 3 months time and if they are still normal he will certainly be in remission A second time 😊.

My son is now 3.

Not for me...I've had ITP 23 years and counting this year. Most of the time I forget I have it, until I bruise, or get tired.

I was diagnosed after being on pain meds and having many injections in my lower back after an accident. I did not feel sick or fatigue. After transfusion and 2 days in hospital and 2 days of steroids at home my counts steadily went up and now after almost a year have been in 200,000 range. I think injections gave me a virus but of course no answers really. I consider myself fortunate but still have fears it will return. I've heard some go into remission for years. I'm a 70 year old otherwise healthy female. I wish you luck and improvement to your ITP!

My platelets are always about 42 but when I’m ill they go up I can only assume that as my body starts fighting the illness it leaves my platelets alone. I noticed that when I went away to hot countries which I do several times a year that my platelets went up then when I came back to the UK within a couple of weeks I was back to around 42. 2 months ago I started taking 2000 iu of Vitamin D daily, since then my platelets have ranged from 62 - 82. I’m not saying it’s definitely this that has made them go up but they have never consistently been this high. You should always consult your consultant before taking Vitamin D

What I have been given to understand is that in ITP, WBCs start eating Platelets. So if there is some other infection, WBCs start fighting the other infection leaving the Platelets. So, but natural the Platelet count rises if one has any other infection. Hope it explains why the Platelets rise when a person has any infection or falls ill.

I was told that your immune system attack your platelets and kills them it’s a it’s immune disorder
