I am not well versed on how each treatment option works but I do know they all work differently.

A consultant will generally prescribe what they feel is suitable for each person depending on their individual needs.

What have you been offered and are you unhappy with the decision?

i was on warfarin for 7 years with no problems , until the GP decided i was at higher risk of bleeding than developing clots ? . I am now on 300mgs of aspirin and off work having developed M.S like symptoms . I have almost begged to be re started on warfarin just to see if these improve . as maybe my blood is too thick and causing neurological symptoms . Im feeling so depressed as want my old life back . Started aspirin 6 months ago , had these symptoms 3 months now .

thank you thats what i thought , am i right to that aspirin just stops the platelets sticking together in the blood , whilst warfarin does something to the vitamin k and thins the blood hence the I N R .

Hi its safer to go on warfarin to prevent clots as the blood is kept at the right thickness, was on aspirin the consultants said its not safe,as it can cause clots and it did but my dose was small,i have to take warfarin for the rest of my life.its best to be safe as it restricts certain sports.

Thanks for reply , its what i thought , but trying to get back on warfarin with my GP is a nightmare , having already had multiple p.e and an infarct in my brain i think god help me if another clotting event happens befoire they take it serious . not to mention the neurological symptoms going on at the moment which stop me living a normal life .
