Help please, I have been using prescription body wash called Skinsan which contains Triclosan but my GP says it’s no longer available and has advised buying TCP antiseptic from chemist. He says it’s the same thing but I’m really sceptical that this will work and is not preventative. Has anyone else tried this please? Very interesting to read about use of cider vinegar and Vicks so will give them a try too. Thank you.

when I read posts like this I get so sad! Your gp needs to refer you to a dermatologist immediately. Research the hell out of this condition. Make up your own mind about what it is. How it's caused.

Never forget that this condition is progressive. You need to stop it in its tracks as much as you can. Heal your body from the inside and it will heal on the outside.

It's been 3 years since my HS took a bad turn. It's been 2.5 years since I knew what the hell this was. I am now in a really stable way. I have a 'flare very occasionally and I can generally pin point the trigger.

In this time everything I have done so many different things to heal and this is not just focusing on the topical. Some things have changed, and some have stayed the same. If you are interested I will write. Generally I find that people on forums/the internet aren't really at the stage of accepting any of the advice. You really need to learn about the body to understand how to heal it.

I'm sorry if this comes across as too emotional but I really really can't stand the thought of other people with HS being in the pain I used to be. And worse for those in whom it has progressed further.

I don't know any if those things you mention about. If you have open wounds then the topical treatment you need is zinc oxide cream and to cover during the day. Zinc is what enables new cells to grow. Where you can in the evening/night you need to uncover your wounds to allow them to dry and heal.

Good luck.

Thanks very much Arya97. I totally agree with you and appreciate your empathy. I was more angry with the go for fobbing me off with TCP than anything. Shows a complete lack of knowledge and empathy. I will try your suggestions. Thanks again. It’s nice to know people out there understand.

For me TCP helps a lot! When I feel one is coming I put in a gauze and tape! It does work for me! Give it a try!

Ok thanks Hun77. That’s interesting. I have now ordered some Hibiscrub to try but will bear TCP in mind.
