Can anyone recommend a good travel insurance company, covering hiv? I'm looking for a years policy for Europe. Many thanks

Travel insurance??
Morning!
Personally, I wouldn't bother with 'special' insurance. In Europe, for now at least there is the EHIC for day to day issues and HIV services in most European countries.
Then just get the best insurance to cover for theft, loss, travel arrangemnets etc. I only buy HIV cover if outside the EU when there is a possibility of super expensive hospital costs.

Thanks Ian
I guess it's a personal decision and depends on the level of risk you're willing to accept.
I do carry a EHIC card as well as private insurance details whilst I'm away. Yes, you are quite right, with the EHIC card some treatments are free however some require a contribution (same as the local residents would have to pay), also some things are not covered such as repatriation. Also an ambulance may not necessarily take you to state provided hospital.
I'm not necessarily looking for a specific hiv insurer but one that won't freak out at my disclosure and charge the earth - obviously being honest about ANY pre-existing medical conditions is vital for travel insurance to be valid.
it's a personal thing I guess, but when I'm laying on that sun lounger listing to STEPS greatest hits, I want to know I'm covered should the worst happen.
(Although listening to STEPS ... some may think the worst has already happened hahah!)
Happy and safe summer everyone!
Boots annual policy with disclosure was £56 for Europe.
Hey thx that sounds pretty cheap!!
Hiya ,I've just booked a holiday going to benidorm in couple of weeks and I was recommended a site and it only cost me £10.65 for a week s insurance even after declaring the hiv the site is world-first.co.uk/
I used staysure . They were really cheap and included my status etc. £55 for worldwide insurance for the year including America! And I got £10 quidco cashbook. .....
Easy travel insurance are very good too
Yeah that's them, u got a good price?
I have been using its s easy travel insurance for last 12 years there HIV travel insurance company they very good
just use the regular comparison sites. If you are UD and have CD4 > 350 and have not just changed meds, then declaring HIV won't increase the premium. I used Virgin Money Insurance last year, and did just that - the only reference to HIV was on a separate attachment to the main policy too, which meant you didn't need to take it with you. I would only use a specialist service if I had just been diagnosed and had very low CD4s....if you are past that point, I don't see any benefits really. You're far more likely to use your insurance for stolen items or delayed flights, than HIV, so shop around...
