Well I've had unprotected sex with someone who's HIV ., & he's detectable .. What's the chances I may ave contracted it ??

I've had the months worth of tablets although it was 6 days after & not 3 .,,

Hello Jozo, I am sorry to hear about the situation. I am not sure how long ago this happened but after taking post exposure prophylaxis (which I assume is the months’ worth of medication you have taken) the routine is for you to get tested for confirmation. Try not to panic too much. I hope you will be reassured to know that HIV is not an easily transmitted virus. I also hope you don’t mind me asking where you got the tablets from. Are you in touch with a clinic? if yes, it may be a good idea to go back for more information and support, if not it is a good idea to go to a sexual health clinic. You will be given further test to confirm your status. Hopefully, you are negative. The good thing about HIV is that it is now a manageable condition, so even if a person gets a HIV positive result there is support and medication to help you live a normal life.

You said the person you had sex with was detectable. Do you know that if a person with HIV takes medication and become undetectable (which means that the level of virus is too low to transmit), the chances of transmission are close to zero? It may be useful for the person to consider taking medication to control the virus. This will reduce any anxieties should any unprotected sex occur.
