I had my first episode of arrhythmia on 19 September. It lasted about six hours and then even the out while I was sleeping. I have felt fine until today when it started again. I’m having no pain or shortness of breath, or any other symptoms so the advice online seems to be that there is no need to call 911 or anything, but it is obviously alarming. I’ve been reading about long-term strategies for reducing episodes through diet, exercise, etc.. But, any suggestions on what to do during the episode? Should I be lying down and avoiding exercise or should I be carrying on with my usual activities as long as they are not too strenuous? Any advice for a newbie would be appreciated.

Since you have no symptoms, presumably you wear a smart watch that is telling you that there is an arrhythmia and you may not know what type of arrhythmia it is. If you can get a printout from the device you should show it to your doctor. In general, without symptoms and in the absence of a fast heart rate, you should be able to carry on as usual but you may need medication to avoid problems in the longer term.
Best wishes

Hi ndvaboy, what you have experienced is indeed alarming. I think you may need a Holter monitor to record the electrical activity of the heart for 48 hrs. Depending on the results, you may be put under medications to avoid any cardiac accidents. I hope this helps. All the best.
been suffering heart issues inclulding daily palps for 4.5 years now. any exertion triggers worse palps. even minor exertion. every time. even light cleaning. but then, you cant live your life sitting around like a statue. palps are a horrible thing. people underestimate just how debilitating they are for the person having them.
