I found the first month on flecanide very difficult. It made me feel really I'll. I persevered only because my son a pharmacist persuaded me it would get better and it did. I take it now as a precaution as my second ablation worked. I now have no side effects at all. So my suggestion would be to give it time as the drug does work.

I'm 39, take 50mg Felcainide twice a day. I was told by my doctor to have an ablation so that I didnt need to take Flecainide again (although it seems to be working fine for me). However I'm reading a lot of posts suggesting that even after an ablation people still need to take Flecainide indefinitely?

Guess I'm one of the fortunate ones. During the 3+ years on flecainide, experienced no side effects whatsoever. Since ablation Jan. '18, no longer take it.

I got the whole tooty. Fever, nausea, dizziness, etc but I persevered as I knew it would get better. There was nothing else to take in it's place that was as effective.

Flecainide is my demigod and I pray to the box every night. :)

I'm 39 and have been taking 50mg Felcainide twice a day, which is working well. I've tried to find out any long term side effects of taking Flec but cant find anything concrete. Have you been told of any?

None the only one I have been made aware of us that it can potentially cause arrhythmia, but I have never had that - the main concern is that it apparently can simply stop working even at higher doses so good to have a plan b discussion at some stage -my cardio is very cautious re ablation and is keen that I wait till the procedure becomes more effective and with less risk - hopefully a silver bullet will arrive! Flec has been great for me - I am 69 still working 5 days a week and have very few incidents of afib - mostly caused by chest infections or watching football.....idiotic that one

Thanks for your reply, much appreciated. I'd rather avoid ablation, but was cautious (because I'm only 39) of the impact years of taking Flecainide could have.
