Hello Contra21,

What can I say? I've had ectopics since I was about thirty, I'm now 77. I think that ought to help you to relax a little more with them. They are a worry, or they can be - I have to say that these days I'm able to take little notice or no notice of them at all. I've had all the tests over the years, ECGs, 48hr tapes, echo cardiograms, and every time I've been told the same, as I fully expect your doctor has told you, that they are very, very common, and that there's nothing to worry about. I think having them for some 47 years proves the point Contra21. They come, they go; there are intense periods, there are periods when they are hardly present at all. Try not to worry. You'll be okay. You ARE okay :)

Be easier with yourself,

Best Wishes,

pnokio

Thank you so much! I want to ask how did you cope with the dear and whats the longest you have gone without them and them then returning? Do you take any meds or anything that has helped? Do you have thyroid problems as i do and somehow feel its the cause of all my health problems plus Stress! Its stopped me from living really. Im afraid to travel etc because when i get that thump irregular pause or flutter o freak and mind goes catastrophic.

Whether or not your thyroid problems have any bearing on your ectopics, I've no idea. Your doctor will tell you. I've had plenty wrong with me during my life, childhood tuberculosis, lots of other stuff, most recently ITP - look that up, it's an interesting and potentially life-threatening illness, plus I am a naturally sensitive person, a bit of a worrier, so earlier in my life I've had all the stress I imagine you're going through now - but really, there's no need for it. Trust your doctor and cardiologist. Ectopics are scary, you fear your heart is going to stop, but it won't - and the way around worrying is to get used to them. They are harmless. I don't think medication will help. I take blood pressure and cholesterol medication. You need to get on with your life Contra21 - look upon your ectopics as nothing more than a blinking nuisance. You'll in all likelihood live to a good old age, like me, so look forward to that. // In answer to your question, from time to time I have gone for so long without ectopics that I've completely forgotten about them *_~

Good luck - and get that unnecessary worrying under control :)

Yes, I expect ectopics can disappear forever, your GP or consultant will be able to tell you more about that. But in the meantime, do take note of what Delythn and I have had to say. They, ectopics, are a nuisance, and they may carry on for years, coming and going, but they are very, very common, and although they will, initially at least, cause much worry, once you're able to accept them and see them for what they are, nothing to worry about, then you'll feel better in yourself. Panicking will not help at all - try to react to them more and more calmly, and bit by bit came to accept them. Your heart isn't going to stop. It really, really isn't. Take it easy, get back into life again, enjoy yourself.

Good luck!

Hello again Contra21,

I have no special diet. I tend to eat what I please - love curry, spaghetti bolognaise, Italian food generally, Thai food, fish and chips, roast dinners - I do tend to steer away from rubbish food though - basically because I don't like it, but I will have a fry-up, and so on, now and again. I love alcohol. Travel has never been big with me - I just can't be bothered. I read quite a bit, and I write quite a bit, poetry and short stories, lots of letters and emails and whatnot - maybe this satisfies the desire many people have to travel? Who can say? Maybe I'm just crank *_~

Take it easy on yourself. Accept what you have to accept. Try not to worry. Enjoy your life :)

Know the feeling mine settled last week after a month of constant ectopics day and night no sleep. Ended up I A&E. getting my 24 hour tape tomorrow then a heart scan Thursday. Of course it will look normal now. Still glad to be rid of them.
