I am concerned that I may not need to take the 75mg EC ASPIRIN and that I only deed to take 20mg to have enough protection against a stroke

Hi Mobo

You don't say what condition you have or what your CHADS2VACS score is, which you can google and check fro yourself.

In general aspirin is not a good stroke preventer, if you have any form of atrial arrythmia, then dependent on your CHADS score you need to be on an anti-coagulant like warfarin, and aspirin is not a good alternative.

However aspirin may be prescribed alongside warfarin for different uses and a very small dose is usually 75mg per day

Best info is here anticoagulationeurope.org/

Most doctors who prescribe aspirin for stroke are way out of date with current thinking

Be well

Ian
