Hi Jacqui1737

I am 10mths post op TAH BSO and unfortunately I still have swelling and my stomach is also distorted on my left side which like you gets worse the more active I am .It will improve over the coming months but I am still struggling with how different my body looks and feels ,really affected my confidence .Sorry I am not being very positive but there is no quick fix .

Thankyou for the reply. It's so distressing.i thought it was going down a bit but then next day it's as bad as ever. Various ladies on forums have said 12wks to 6months make big change but up to a year.

I can at least get into elacticated jeggings but lots of my clothes from begore just make me look pregnant.it honestly looks like I have bowling ball there.

Plus I find certain drinks well white wine I'm in agony cramping. Know still early days nut id like to hope it will go down at least bit more.

So sorry for my negativity,I promise it does go down but I have only noticed a difference in the last few weeks and I still cannot quite get into most of my bottoms from before my op .Stay positive and take care of yourself.

I'd rather honesty over false hope. My 2nd op and had just about squeezed into some of my clothes from begore. So maybe as 2nd op in 3 months and abdominal this time instead of keyhole it's taking a bit longer...like forever lol..we will get there and as long as we are clear maybe small price to pay.as my mum says you will always find something to fit..stay safe.hugs x

Hi Jacqui, Some people seem to recover super fast but for the majority it does take a lot longer than what the nhs website advises. My hysterectomy was a TLH with RSO and stage 4 endo excision. The first stage of my recovery took 3 months but it was almost 12 months before i felt i had fully recovered from the op. Leggings were my new best friend during that time 😁 def couldnt wear anything tight on my tummy or with no give in it. Even if you are only making small steps of progress then thats good. If you feel you have gone backwards at all then i would speak to your dr. Take care x

Thankyou I expected to bounce back quickly and i think I have in lots of ways. At 8 wks my bf said there was nothing wrong g with me my op was months ago which hurt. My family are like pretty much the same attitude. I have always showered from day 2 and done my hair and makeup and made myself look and feel semi normal. It doesn't mean I'm not struggling. I'm 12wk on the and driving since last week. Still tire v easy and cramp tummy I think it's me overdoing it a bit. I think it's just as 6-8wks are general healing for hysterectomy that's where all expectation come from.this was my 2nd op in 3months not sure if that makes a difference and the zip scar up middle of my stomach doesn't bother me now. I cry every day looking at the beach ball swollen tummy I just want it to go down. Still hurts to cough sneeze even laugh with the heavy knotted feeling of the incision. Plus I think it's only really sinking in what I've went through. Sorry long post and rant.

dont apologise. it really is a big op that uv had and it has lots of implications of your physical, mental, and emotional state. yeah i think we all put more pressure on ourselves to recover quickly, not helped by others adding to that also. i had 3 ops in 2 1/2 years and that may also have impacted on the speed of recovery too. i tried to go back work at around 7 weeks and it made me bad. ended up off until 12 weeks and then had to build it up. the fatigue seemed to go on forever. your stomach swelling could well be a sign that you are overdoing it. do u feel well other than that? no temperature? redness? it is a long recovery and one of the hardest for me but it will get better i promise ❤

Yeah I'm in good health.

And probably overdoing it as think being inactive not helping either.

Lot strange gurgling noises and fluid like noises from behind incision still so maybe things still trying to settle. God love you that's a lot and it's v stressful. We are wonder women...i try to be positive and grateful as much as possible but inevitable break at some points and hormone factor does have big part to play or lack off.thankyou 🌻 appreciate taking time to reassure and I'm not alone. Be gentle on yourself as wel

Hugs x

I had a TAH BSO on 8/20/20 with vertical incision, and my abdomen is so uneven. I worry that it will never even out. I can still feel the knot at the top of the stitches under my belly botton. 😔 Can we share photos in this group?

Would Love some words of encouragement, confirming that incision scars like mine will eventually relax and smooth out.

Hi I'm not sure how to share photos on here. I've had a ct and discovered I have incisional hernia in the deep layers so explains the large swelling. Wearing a support binder helps enormously. Result is I'm going to need open surgery again and mesh to repair as quite large hernia

Hope your tummy has settled down more and do not overdo it or end up like me needing another op. Hugs x
