Binder or no binder?

Did anyone use an abdominal binder after total hysterectomy surgery for support? If so, was it NHS approved? Any recommendations? Have operation in just over a weeks time.

Hey,

I was told after mine to not use anything like that as it squishes everything post surgery but also as it doesnt encourage your own muscles to start working when they are ready to.

I would ask your surgeon before using anything like that.

Hi,

I had a Total Abdominal Hysterectomy nearly 3 months ago. I found good support pants helped me feel supported & protected & especially now I’m back at work. I hope all goes well with your op 😊.

Where did you get these ‘support pants’ from?

I bought them from Marks & Spencer’s. A pack of 2 for £15. I don’t know where you are but most underwear shops will have them. Or you can buy them on line. They’re not to tight but just makes me feel a bit supported around my scar. Good luck 😉

I was given a binder in the hospital...hated it, but had to wear it! I am now 5 months out of this nightmare and during the day I wear a post pregnancy band...it is wonderful, can be bought on line and gives just the right amount of “support” without being tight!

I am 10days post op total hysterectomy and the hospital didn't give me any binders or suggested it . I read up on it and it has helped me sleep on my side wearing spanx knickers and now I purchased a binder belt . I do think it helped me alot . Good luck
