I have eventually got my appointment for my hysteroscopy and biospy. I have never had a GA and I am more worried about waking up during the procedure than not waking up afterwards.
I feel stupid asking this but will my bits be exposed before I am knocked out?

I have had two hysteroscopys with laparoscopy at the same time. The procedure does not take long, the first one took longer than expected due to what my consultant thought was a fibroid blocking the neck of my womb, should have only taken about 30 mins but was an hour due to blockage and removal of endometriosis. The second time I had an investigative laparoscopy and a successful hysteroscopy where the blockage was a benign po!yp and was removed - the whole procedure took about 45 mins. Don't worry about GA, I have had 6 operations in less than 2 years with no issues, you really are in very safe hands. You will be monitored throughout by the anaesthetist and hooked up to monitors. Its also a very quick procedure. No bits are exposed before surgery, you are usually given rather attractive paper knickers to wear which are removed either before or during surgery. I do believe that once under and in theatre your legs are placed in stirrups - I only know this as I asked the nurse. Seriously, there is nothing to worry about. I am due to go in to hospital in a few weeks for an 8 hour surgery and am not worried - I find the worst bit is post surgery when the pain meds start to wear off. Hope this has been some help.
Thanks Summer143 It's a big relief knowing about the paper knickers Lol. They can do what they like to me once I'm under I just don't want to wake up while they are doing it. I hope your surgery goes ok x
I had womb ablation a month ago and I went to sleep quickly and was woken up an hour after my procedure due to problems bleeding. I was worried about waking up too and there is nothing to worry about.
You are monitored the whole time whilst you are under anaesthetic so you won't wake up! They really do know what they're doing 😊 But it's understandable to be anxious. You will get to speak to the anaesthetist beforehand so mention your worries.
And the staff do everything they can to preserve your dignity 😊
