What sort of Christmas meal will you have? ... - Healthy Eating
What sort of Christmas meal will you have? this is a multiple choice so please tick all that apply and say what other is. ππ€Ά
Turkey dinner, no choice as my daughter has invited us. Not that I am complaining. Merry Christmas to you Jerry.π
Cornish hens and veggies with sweet potatoes aside.
Curry curry.....
I've voted 'other', but realise I should have gone for 'other roast' - sorry.
I'm going to a posh restaurant with two of my children, their partners and my granddaughter. I've ordered pan-seared scallops, followed by roast loin of venison plus roast potatoes and loads of veg, finishing with fresh berries and raspberry sorbet. This is my Christmas treat, paid for by the kids and I'm so grateful to them. It's the first time in over 30 years that I won't be making mince pies and I really don't mind.
Hey please don't apologies its only a bit of pre Christmas fun π and your day sounds very special to me so enjoy...π
Thanks. You have a good day too! And all the best for 2019...
Thank you, and you. π
Vegetarian nut roast made with roasted chestnuts-hazelnuts, chestnut mushrooms, goatβs cheese, seeded bread, fresh herbs...along with an assortment of various veggie dishes...sprouts with orange zest and pine nuts, cauliflower cheese, roasted veggies, veggie gravy, fresh cranberry sauce...dessert will be baked apples filled with roasted almonds, raisins and spices with a cardamon-vanilla custard - Iβm not a fan of traditional Christmas cakes or desserts! I donβt use cowβs dairy in any of this
Hey this sounds lush π π
Iβve put traditional but should have maybe put othe. Weβre having roast but always have Lamb as we donβt like Turkey. I donβt really like roast dinner but make a concession on Christmas Day.
Ham dinner with parsnips, carrots, potatoes and sweet potatoes.
I've put traditional roast but we have a Turkey crown, glazed ham and roast beef. We also have pigs in blankets, cauliflower and broccoli cheese and home made stuffing plus roast potatoes, roasted and honey glazed parsnips and carrots and sprouts with chestnuts. We don't have a starter and don't bother with an evening meal. There will be 15 of us. Happy Christmas one and all. Deb. πππ
Whatever I want from whatever I have on the day.
Poached salmon and a special Christmas salad.
Great Poll Jerry, I will be attempting to make a Vegan Gluten Free Roast with roasted shallots, Roasties cooked with fresh Rosemary, steamed veggies and the Gravy I will be making with brown rice flour, garlic powder and roasted onion seasoning π
Forgot to say for dessert I will be baking the mince pie bake you make and of course with Swedish Glaze π ( I Know, I am an animal)
Hi Debs this all sounds great to me and I hope you like the mince bake, I've got one of these gluten free vegan Chrissy puds

And of course with Swedish grace and maybe some soya cream...I'm a pudding lover too. π
Sounds yummy, I spotted that they also do a sticky toffee apple pudding as well :>
mmmmm......π
Most likely fish. I am Eating out so don't know till I get there. But I won't be choosing poultry or meat. ( rarely do when I'm out) Other may be a vegetable dish with a cheese sauce. Will go for a light desert. I've made 2 types of Christmas puddings this year. A Vegan one for a friend and daughter/ grand daughter. And a no added sugar one for a friend and ourselves.
I'm in charge this year, so we know dinner will be coeliac safe. We do a buffet type starter around 1pm (salad, bread, cheese, olives, antipasti), and then it'll be a standard roast with veggies about 6pm, and dessert about 8pm!
This sounds great and good for you as you will know that you're safe with everything on offer so I hope that you all enjoy it. π
I really don't know yet , was looking forward to all the usual goodies but have just been told I have diabetes so some adjustments will have to be made
Well good luck and I was first diagnosed with coeliac I felt lost as all I could see was what I couldn't eat and now I focus on what I can eat.

And I'm sure there'll be advice on here about a diabetic friendly Christmas meal π:

Before my OH was formally diagnosed coeliac, he had the same fear, so I sat down and wrote out a list of 50 meals we already knew how to make, that were gluten free. It might help to do that with diabetes too? Writing out a list of all the things you already like, that you can still eat. E.g. I like to snack on olives, coconut, apple and nut butter. And think about recipes you can easily substitute, e.g. sugar free apple crumble.
It's less scary when you see 2 pages worth of food you CAN eat!
