Autumn shows the beauty of impermanence 🍁

Hi everyone, being an autumn child I have an infinity with this time of year.

A humble leaf which on its own seems insignificant but a tree covered in leaves is majestic through out the leaves short burst of life.

In the spring when trees are starting to produce their leaves they look ghostly with a hint of what's to come, then they are at their most vibrant and the late spring winds sway the leaf covered branches making the trees look like their are dancing with joy welcoming there imminent arrival of summer.

The humble leaf converts sunlight and carbon dioxide into food and the leaf then releases oxygen hence the importance of our forests.

Then comes autumn and the leaves on deciduous trees turn to gorgeous gold and orange hues looking magnificent. But as the daylight hours and temperature diminishes the leaves drop and they do not try and hang on to permanence they flutter and float gracefully to the ground creating a wondrous golden carpet that scrunches under foot which's delightful to walk on and to witness.

I took this photo trying to capture the flurry of leaves falling but its not easy there are a few close up here on their last journey before the cycle starts again next spring.

Maybe if we as humans didn't try and make everything permanent we could live in harmony with nature just like the humble leaf that helps make a magnificent tree proud and strong and asks for nothing in return...πŸ‚

And you can see the lovely golden carpet of newly fallen leaves glittering in the low morning sun.

You post lot about the forest, we adore forest walking. We did Dumfries and Galloway last week and often go to Dalby in North Yorkshire. In addition we have our own beautiful woodland walk very close to home. Yours looks lovely, perhaps you would pm me where it is.

Hi Hidden

Gorgeous carpet of newly fallen leaves, and beautiful forest. As you say, delightful to walk on those leaves and to witness those great views.
