Divorce. Does anybody have any advice for those with a brain injury or their spouses without wanting a divorce.

Has anyone out there been through a divorce where a brain injury has been a factor? Desperately seeking help from people who have been through this

Hi John.

My name is Paddy and I read your question about divorce and head injury. I am not really sure what exactly you want to know but I suggest you not be too specific on a public forum as the topic is very private and specific to individuals.

I was divorced following a head injury and it was a dreadful time. I understand how difficult it is to be faced with the breakdown of family life whilst also trying to cope with the effects of brain injury - most of which seem invisible and impossible to describe, even to those closest to us.

Chatting things through with a sympathetic stranger is often easier than trying to talk to family when emotions are high and I would do my best to listen, understand and give any advice you wanted.

By way of encouragement, I am now very happily married to my soulmate, who entirely 'gets' my wonky head. She just isn't the same person I was married to at the time of my injury.

ha ha I always say I'm having a very bad blond moment, but think I prefer your term 'wonky head'
