Smiling !🙂 ......it's way underestimated. I remember a stranger smiling at me randomly in the street and how heartwarming that smile, in isolation, immediately lifted my spirits.

I don't walk around wearing a dopey grin, but every so often when I see someone approaching on the pavement (especially if they look miserable/troubled) I give a little smile, and it's always reciprocated, with a tinge of surprise and relief.

I guess its special because it's a simple greeting between two human beings without motive. I'm told I frown too much. And I do complain a lot about people grinning inanely on tv shows & commercials. Maybe we need less fake laughter in our lives and more spontaneous, genuine smiles.

And yes Skydiver ; smiling at our own shortcomings and mistakes is a good place to start..... Cat Xx

...meant to say m'love - I'm so sorry you lost your mum earlier this year ; it's a massive blow I know. And caring for your friend with dementia, although a labour of love, must be exhausting.

Take care, Xx

Welcome to this forum S, so sorry for the loss of your Mum too, and caring for your friend, dementia is hard.

Glad you have occasional good days, and you can always tell us about the bad ones here - because we'll actually get it. It's a good place.

I like your advice to 'SMILE to spite it!' You'll have other good strategies to share as well I suspect?
