Very long term sick

Since first July 2018, I have been off work sick, work have now decided at last to finish me, which saves me having to say at times well technichnicly I’m still employed which is a bit daft really. Even the dwp gave up on me long ago that I didn’t need to send in any more sick notes, I think work are worried I’ll tell the papers they are getting rid of a disabled person, please just do it.

Well since I finished my self esteem as gone out the window, DWP seem to think I can do some kind of job at 65 I was bus driver in London since I was 21 then started having mini strokes twice weekly I’ve also got heart failure they say I can do something simple. Regards Ian

I remember I went to the JobCentre a few times and even saw a disability employment advisor. They virtually said, I have worked enough all my life and they have more pressing people to get into jobs.

Well they can get stuffed I’m 65 in November they can concentrate on younger people who are committing crime rather than working for their money instead of stealing it. Regards Ian

No - definitely not sunny here today Alice. Pelting rain and high winds all day .....and still now (midnight). I'm sitting in bed with the hatch open so I can listen to the rain hammering on the attic Velux windows whilst snug as a bug !

You take care too m'love. Cat xx

Having a disability or long term medical condition does not automatically give rise to any discrimination claims if employment is terminated, as long as employers have allowed time for recovery and looked at any reasonable adjustments that could allow you to return to work.

If you have been off sick since 2018 then your employers have been very understanding. If you are not able to return, even with reasonable adjustments then they will have fulfilled their part and should be able to end the employment contract without fear.

This also means you are free to move onto the next phase of your life with all that it brings. Once your employment is terminated you may want to look at the possibility of claiming benefits to help support you.

Good Luck!
