Pros cons - Mindfulness

Julesgettingthere profile image

Hello Everyone,

I havent been on the forum for a VERY long time - everything hit me at once and things were too much to talk. I know you will all understand that.

Anyway - no ranting today, just a question.

I completed my trauma therapy on Friday (after 3 years) if you remember mine was a TBI following a motorcycle accident.

I am thinking about Mindfulness now, but have heard some shocking stories about the teachers not having knowledge of how to deal with recovering TBi but then also some glowing results.

I attemptem one session of Mindfulness a few years back but couldnt speak to the rest of the class about me. Things have moved on since then and I am wondering if I should now return.

Does anyone have good/bad experiences to share (I am in Newcastle).

Kindest regards to all you great people - its like saying hello to my family again.

Jules

PS: Is Cat still around?

Hi Jules I wrote a post earlier about my mindfulness course coming to an end. Mindfulness is designed for depression however it it good for organising the mind and bringing out all the trauma and stress you have been through with BI. I think it's best to understand that you will be a minority in the group and people will not understand the effects of BI and might scare them and the teacher also. However think about yourself and not them, it has done me good and I will continue to practice. Hope that helps.

Hello my lovely !! It's SO good to see you. I was talking about you only the other day and saying how I wish I knew you're OK. You went through such a traumatic time and it's such a relief to see your username come up again.

I remember how you struggled with trauma therapy but how brave you were in keeping going despite the digging up of sore memories/events. And you've completed it ; well done my dear. The mindfulness might be more manageable now I suspect. Your tragic loss of Val, on top of everything else, was bound to bring you to your knees, but something so momentous can make us stronger.

Go for it Jules ; there'll be heaps of emotions needing airing inside that head of yours, and if it turns out to be unsuitable you can leave any time....(suspect you won't though). I hope you're as well as can be lovely lady and all's well with Ren.

Don't you dare go to ground again ; you've been SO missed by many........especially Jan & I.

Loads of love, E. xxx
