Has anybody tried a ginger supplement to help with nausea after aneurysm procedure ?? I know the aneurysm is leaning on the right side of brain stem on the nerve which is affecting balance , nausea and lack of focus . I should have asked the consultant but forgot 😔🤗🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Hi Shon

I put fresh ginger in my tea every morning and leave to brew before adding milk. I am also taking magnesium and vit B complex and my nausea has improved.

Thank you , I’ll give the ginger a try . Surely can’t do any harm. I was taking magnesium before all this started and stopped it but haven’t found any difference. Consultant said it’s the beast leaning on the right nerve which is causing the dizziness and hopefully time will shrink it. Merry Christmas to you , Shona 🎄🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I had crystallised ginger for when I felt nauseas or if I remembered a travel sickness pill.

After 1/2 years I don't seem to get it now. Same with headaches. First year I spent mostly horizontal because I was tired and weak and feeble. Brain does not react like any other part of the body. And doctors are still learning about it.

Second year more vertical than not and got back to a sort of normal but not like before SAH.

Now I have found salvation in happy pills and dare I say a bit of joy. But I still think not living would have been a better option but whatever is in charge of this existence decided otherwise.

Blessings to you

I’m up for a wee while in the day but usually have to lie down from lunchtime onwards . I think I’ll try the ginger , wish I could get rid of the dizziness though. Time will tell

Thank you

Hi,

It’s probably a good thing you forgot to check with your consultant about ginger because he/she would have probably told you to avoid it for some reason.

The thing is, ginger is totally natural and cannot harm you like man-made medicine can do in the long run.

Ginger is not only good for settling the stomach but further research has said it also aids at preventing cancer.

Ginger is good for consuming if you have a cold/tickly cough/both. I add ground ginger to my home mead smoothies every day.

See I believe that everything we needed was already here for us. I’m talking about plants/herbal medicine.

Man-made medicine is there to rake in the money only.

I can’t eat because taste buds are awful so I’m living on a diet of boiled eggs and milk to drink . Early days for me though and it would be wonderful if the aneurysm would shrink a little and get off the nerve it’s pressing . Thanks for your help though

I’m sorry to hear your taste buds are awful and you have a pretty limited diet, that can’t be very nice.

Were you thinking of having ginger supplements or maybe adding ground ginger to food or drinks.

Like you said though, it is early days. How early is it? Are we talking weeks/months?

I have been living with brain injury for over 22 years now.

After my very first op in 1996 I was told I had a right sided paralasys and taste on the right side of my mouth was pretty tasteless/numb and my teeth on the right were weak. Also I could not or did not salivate very well on the right so if I did try chewing on the right, food would get stuck to my teeth easily.

I was chewing my food on the left side of my mouth for years but found that my left side teeth grew weaker so I would begin chewing on the left then swap to the right so I could make it wetter and easier to chew.

Now, I chew on my right without having to do the swapping thing and taste has got a bit better on the right.

So I have high hopes for you. I hope that taste improves for you and maybe youcan expand your diet in time :).

Remember that time is a great healer.

Sounds very like my problem . I had my first procedure in June and the other in September so it’s far too soon I think . If I could get help with the dizziness I’m sure the nausea would go too. Consultant is trying to find out more information for me as it’s such an unusual aneurysm and it’s leaning on the nerve which works the right side of my face . I feel I’ve been to the dentist everyday with the numbness. You have given me hope and I thank you for that though . Too impatient. Have a lovely Christmas 🎄 and better health in the New Year.

I’m not greatly familiar with aneurysms, I had a brain tumour. But I am familiar with nerves.

My tumour was, and still is, located on my brain stem. It is inactive right now so no worries :).

But as it is at the back of the head there is obviously a spaghetti junction of nerves. Surgeons had to operate with care around the area and some nerves were bruised during my first op leaving me with weakness in muscles, hence the right sided paralysis and my right eye has turned permanently inward.

I have heard that a severed nerve can never repair itself but a bruised nerve... well that is different. I beleive it can repair itself but it may take a long time.

As I was saying before, I rely more on natural/herbal remedies and the Lion’s mane mushroom can apparently help regenerate nerves.

I drink a certain type of coffee by a company called Four Sigmatic that uses Lion’s mane and Chaga mushroom’s.

I have been drinking this coffee for a few years now and haven’t really noticed much of a difference with the nerves but this is not to say that nothing is happening at all.

Time is a great healer... as I was saying before :).

Funny that but my aneurysm is near the brain stem too . We are right pair lol 😂 . Never heard of Lions mane mushrooms . I don’t particularly coffee and although I’ve tried it since I’m not too keen on tea either now. Think I need to go to the vet lol 😂

Hi, ginger is a great, non pharmacological thing to try for dizziness. Also you could try the anti seasick wristbands (need to wear them 24/7for a few days to see if you get any benefit).

Worth asking if you can do the brandt daroff exercises (ask to be shown these). 5times a day. I use these if I get labyrinthitus.... Most others take to their beds with drugs but these exercises really help.

Yoga balances may also be helpful if you can get someone to show you.

Good luck

Thankyou . My daughter is into yoga but I can’t stand yet . I’ll ask her about the Brandt daroff exercises . 🎄🎄🤗🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
