Kevin has been at the rehab unit for 12 weeks now (original BI happened 20th Jan 2018). We were called for a meeting to discuss progress and prognosis moving forward. He is making very slow progress but does and, they said, always will have a profound memory impairment. His short term memory is non existent and he doesn’t seem to have any insight into life at all. He continues to be sectioned under the mental health act due to his mental health condition and I have now been advised to speak to a solicitor regarding court of protection as he lacks mental capacity. They have applied for a further 4 month stay at rehab and reassess then. It all feels very real now as I’ve always just thought he would come home and work on things here but that’s not going to happen for a long time 😢

I am so sorry your going through this. I hope you have support around you too to help you. Please don’t lose hope as a friends mother was told she would not make it and although it was a long (2 years) and a slow journey she has surpassed all their expectations and more. Sending you a big virtual hug x
