Has anyone been prescribed medication to deal with headaches and nausea following a brain injury? Has it helped?

Medication
I've had headaches since the day I got out of hospital turned out they are migraines so now get meds from dr, side effects are worse than the headaches
So I suffer sorry if it's not much help x
Ian, I've had frequent headaches since a bleed on the brain 6 years ago and, until recently, used Co-Codamol to minimise the pain. But I suddenly developed a bad reaction to them, so have nothing except Paracetamol now which are less than useless.
I can't use Ibuprofen either but, if you can tolerate them, they're really efficient at relieving most pain issues. Of course any pain meds need to be compatible with other medication you may be using.
I know there are certain anxiety drugs and even seizure ones which are sometimes prescribed for headaches and which you could ask your GP about.
But please remember it's now well documented that taking regular pain meds over a long period can actually cause the headaches so, if yours aren't helping it might be beneficial to stop them for a couple of weeks.
After the coiling procedure to stop the bleed on my brain I was given Co-Codamol 4 times daily for over a month but, still in dreadful pain, I stopped them (with agreement from my consultant) and the pain slowly subsided over the next week. Then, by taking a couple occasionally, I controlled the pain more efficiently.
Have you asked your GP what your options are for better pain control ? x
