Hi. I'm a newby. My doctor told me I'm "ate up" with arthritis. I go to an Indian clinic so it's difficult to find answers. How can I tell what kind of arthritis it is and treatments? I'm in a great deal of pain. Thanks in advance.

This forum is Headway which is for people who have got a brain injury. I think you need a forum on HealthUnlocked for arthritis as on there they would be better able to respond to your questions. Your doctor should be able to tell you whether it is osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis.

You will need X rays and blood & urine tests to determine whether your arthritis is Osteoarthritis or the Rheumatoid type.

Please click on 'My Communities' at the top/centre of this page then type in 'Arthritis' in the search box of the communities page to join the appropriate forum.

Best wishes......

pir9663 my wife suffered with rheumatoid arthritis in her mid 30s,but she was lucky and she caught it early.

when you say clinic, i take thats where you see your gp?

you need, as cat said, to have bllod tests done, after which you should be referred to a rheumatologist for treatment.

good luck
