You can use coconut oil in many ways, cook with it, add it to drinks, use it for skin care, very versatile. For your purpose use it in cooking and add to drinks, eg smoothies.

Oh and I was learning yesterday about our need for oxygen. So slow deep breathing to calm us down, and because brain needs most oxygen. Stress of course lowers the immune system so deep breathing, meditation is good to combat stress.

Hi

Snacks - seeds, apples, cheese, eggs.

Balance small meals with

Protein - fish, lean meats, nuts, and eggs.

Healthy fats and oils- avocados, seeds and nuts (almonds, walnuts, brazil nuts). Coconut oil is great to cook with as has high cooking temperature and Coconut water which is also great for hydration. Can be added to smoothies.

Carbohydrates- vegetables, fresh fruits, and grains.

Try to eat around the same time every day too so the body gets used to a routine.

Hope this helps a wee bit

Steve, at boarding school every day b4 or after breakfast I forget, we were given a teaspoon of Castor Oil, yuk! followed by a dessert spoon full of Malt - delicious! That was back in the 50's! apart from childhood things like chickenpox or measles, I had a very healthy if not particularly fit (sitting behind a desk all day) adulthood! Wonder if I can buy malt in France?

I'm still not a keen fish eater, and can't get fish and chips here!

I don't know Steve,

I've not heard of a 'home brew shop' before. ' My village here has a small, grocers shop/cafe , hairdresser and post office. the nearest town when someone takes me there, has same as my village, a supermarket, no where near small town centre equivalent to a co-op or Fine Fare in years past, a weekly market in the centre, with stalls selling clothes, fish, cheese, fruit&over. So plenty of choice for fresh food, several butchers and bakers shops in other roads plus the usual, opticians, pharmacys, shop shop, boutique clothes shop and more than enough hairdresser So!

if you've been to France your know what I mean! Great for holidays. After my BI my car was written off, so don't and can't drive anywhere. Don't mean to sound negative, but that's all there is here.

Coconut oil is really versatile I even add a teaspoon to my tea with Alpro koko milk which is cholesterol free.

Add it with my granola for breakfast with bananas and raspberries and koko milk and smoothies ...

Hi Prid

I have found I have low blood sugar so to stop the ups and downs of moods eat protein at each meal and protein snacks in between.

Egg, wholemeal toast for breakfast

Handful of nuts snack. Almonds , brazils, walnuts, pecans.

Hummus is a great stand by- protein with wholemeal pitta and advocado.

Chicken in all its forms - low fat and full of protein.

Quorn and soya, tofu.

Home made soup with vegetables and lentils.

Raw nuts, not salted.

Large prawns sautéed with garlic - you can eat them as is or add them to a home made tomato sauce with pasta.

Chill con carne - good mixture beans and meat - lots of protein.

Have found Holland and Barret timed release VIT B 100 steadies my nerves and help brain fatigue as does vitamin D dark days of winter .

Keep hydrated - lots of water during the day.

Smoothies- banana and milk or soya milk.

lots of green vegetables. Cabbage, purple sprouting broccoli , brussel sprouts, kale ect.

Cheers with an apple - pear etc .

I tried eating coconut oil by the spoon but found it lowered my already low blood pressue and felt dizzy.

Use it as a hair and skin conditioner now.

olive oil - The Mediterranean diet is one of the healthiest around.

Also fresh air each day - this really helps me.

I also use meditation and relaxation programmes on You Tube - lovely !

Hope this helps

Hi Prid,

I agree with what the others have said apart from the cake comment :).

Cake is good but does not have the right nutrients to aid the brain and in turn can expand your body because of the sugar.

Sugar: The modern day poison.

I know heath was joking about the cake, I hope :).

As for the brain/immune system, I suggest eating most foods that are natural.

Avoid processed foods at all costs.

Take care,

MJ
