Hi Bexx

Yes I agree it is disgusting! Very offensive and archaic opinions. Getting so much attention though and a downside of social media that allows people to express such extreme and damning ideas and generate such attention.

Hi Bexx,

Disgusting as well as a pathetic thing to say.

Katie Hopkins is not only a perennial motormouth but usually appears to shoot herself in the foot with some of the things she says such as the fact that she does not like the fact that people name their kids after a place/country and one of her kids is called 'India'.

I personally, don't agree with calling kids after nouns or even fruit either (Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow's kid, Apple). Then again, Apple could be named after a big technology compaany :).

But after what she said about suicidal people attention seeking! Not only does that make me think "How is that attention seeking? Because once you have gone through with it, you can't exactly soak up the attention you wanted".

But it also makes me think how heartless she is.

I think back to around when Robin Williams took his life, it was not attention seeking, it was depression that lead him to it.

Disgusting is not strong enough.

I am sad to say I have in the past( and hopefully never again). I came to the conclusion I was a coward.....and proud of it. Suicide is no easy choice to make and thankfully I was not brave enough to carry it through. I have learnt not to be ashamed of this, after a long long time. To express such an opinion without any insight should be an offence as it is extremely offencsive. Rant over back to getting on living.

It's very tricky: right to say what we think/feel versus others' rights and beliefs. how MUCH care must we take not to hurt others' feelings? When does it become bullying? When does it turn into harassment? Where do you draw the line, for whom and why? Who decides?

All too much of a damn puzzler for me!

Agreed,Bexx but then this is Katie Hopkins so no surprise really.Clearly not interested in educating herself in the chemical complexities of depression and most probably an attention seeker herself since she appears to court notoriety with her outrageously insulting comments.I couldn't live in her head -not even for five minutes ! x

Angel: 'educating herself in the chemical complexities of depression'.

I don't know these do you?! Does anyone REALLY? What are facts? Looking back they've changedSO much and will for ever into the future = UNLESS a person/body gains complete control.

Feels bit like that NOW. We're all controlled in loads of ways. None of us EVER have our OWN thoughts, not me, not you, none of us ever. We're all biased and believe what we want to believe - or are told to = or else we'll be punished if our beliefs don't fit into the current norms, what's acceptable in this place and now.

And that changes = place, time, group, age...

The Rules. I'll never get to grips with them, sadly.

I have learned of the correlation of chemical/neurotransmitter changes and the effect of anti depressants on symptoms through medical studies I have read. They appear to demonstrate ( not proven,I accept ) that environmental/circumstancial triggers for depression can lead to long term changes in brain function in some people. I meant to illustrate that a clinically depressed person does not appear to be able to simply 'snap out' of it or 'pull themselves together' as Katie Hopkins was suggesting. What happened is a tragedy, both for the pilot in desperation and the passengers who did not get a choice in their fate.It is not possible to foresee rare incidents of this kind, impossible to police everyone's state of mental health at all times. We can only review the chain of events that lead to this and try to put better measures in place to minimise the risk in future. patient.co.uk/health/depres...

My motto is to treat others in the way I would want to be treated-with tolerance and respect.I do not feel that I am controlled-I am able to make balanced and informed choices .If we do not have our own thoughts, who originally influenced those that influence us ?

Albert Einstein — 'Two things are infinite: the universe and h̶u̶m̶a̶n̶ Katie Hopkins' stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.

in reply to barny1

Me neither Barny, universe. I don't think it's a ONE (uni) or even a thing. And of course there's ALL sorts of life out there, just not life as WE know it. Not hot on maths now but I think (maybe wrong!) that probability says there MUST be, we cannot be the only life. Depends what counts as life. Things UNIMAGINABLE, beyond comprehension (at this time), wonderful! Or not. ?

I don't think anyone takes her seriously anyway. She just wants attention, like a spoiled child.
