Hi Vimto, I'm so sorry to hear that. I do also hope it will be a good outcome for the family, for you.

I have a good friend back in UK who had a bad fall from a ladder earlier this year. He was in hospital for over 3 weeks, but back home afterwrds - although no brain haemorrhage he has many complications now with ,memory loss, not eating properly and confusion, wobbly walking etc., and he had good immediate support via the NHS hospital neurology department. I am very saddened that his wife still does not understand the effects of brain injury, despite the fact she poo-poohed me when I said I still had many complications not least of which was no personal family/friends or medical support for 10 months till I found a new doctor over here in france where the BI occurred.

She just took the view that mine was so long ago, that I was OK, to her, when I saw them last summer. We don't talk now....I can't be bothered given her attitude, which is wrong because I worry about her husband and wonder how he is getting on - if even she does not appreciate how long term it can be before effects really can manifest themselves and she has not seen me since my car accident in November which made things worse for me. I really think that that is more responsible formy BI effects being worse, than when it happened last March.

So yes when it happens to someone else, you know what a tough time they are going to be in for Its the same for Michael Schumacher's family, they have no idea yet, and I do hope he will regain full conciousness and that there can be some quality of life for them. At least the quality of my and presumably your life has improved since our B.i's and we perhaps can accept where we are now, even if life is not what it was and we are not the people we were before ours. Thanks for that SAMBS , the family did not see this coming as their little girl fell over and banged her head , it only came to light hours later when she started to be different in her self. When you have sat at that bed side held someones hand willing them on to open their eyes and talk again , the minutes turn into Hours and then turn into Days , and no one knows how it will turn out. Not having had a Head/Brain injury my self only being there at that bedside i only hope the family keep strong like we did .( The staff there are best in the field and the ward is second to none in this Hospital ).

And I can relate also to the problems with family and close friends /loved ones , lives can get torn apart in the after effects of a unexpected situation.
