Odd coincidence. My friend has just gone for a few days holiday to Whitby, for a birthday treat. It's beautiful, but of course it's in what we refer to as 'God's County'.........Yorkshire.
I have friends in Harrogate and go whenever I can (which isn't often these days) but I have some very fond memories of various Yorkshire beauty spots.
I am a tyke and live within yards of the historic yorkshire / derbyshire county border
When i visit my sister in london they don't realise how big and great Yorkshire is
I live 10 mins from the Peak district 60 mins from the Yorkshire coast

I'm in Trafford, south of Manchester and I used to take my kids up to the Peak district occasionally and often went walking with friends over the peaks & across the moors.............even in winter...........awesome, vast, magnificent place.
Sometimes we'd drive across the border to Yorks. & over to Harrogate, although the route across the top could be a bit hairy !
I'm not sure what a tyke is dillm.............a Yorkshire person maybe ?
yep that i what they call us
It is sometimes difficult to appreciate the beauty of the Peak District
as we take it for granted. We shop in Buxton,Bakewell Chesterfield very regularly and just travel on autopilot. It is the same for the Yorkshire Coast we just pile the dogs into the car and take them for a run on the Beach Whitby can be reached in 1hr 45 mins
In the opposite direction we have The Dukeries i.e Rufford, Sherwood and Clumber Parks ( where Robin Hood was allegedly based) but Yorkshire tries to claim him as one of our own) within 30 mins. I dont been to brag but we are so lucky to live in our part of Sheffield
I will post some images of The Yorkshire Coast in due course

Same here, that was my play ground as a kid! White peak, dales, Monsal head. Walking climbing camping cycling!
Lived in Notts then so picnics in Clumber park and sherwood and rufford were weekend treats along with visits to darley dale and the cable cars.
Happy Days
Interesting; my father used to call me a 'little tyke' just before he applied some psychology for my misbehaving as a child. Wonder why?
I used to live in Whitby,my eldest son was born there. I loved living there and only left when we were posted to Germany.
Hi I love Whitby & district have been going to Whitby for last 55 years but I have to admit I love Staithes, Saltburn. And Redcar as well
I can leave home and be in Saltburn in 2 hours by train heaven!!!!
I have heard a lot of good things about Whitby and places along the same coast my father had good friends there.
I have never been there. The only time I went to Yorkshire is to Elvington raceway for the top speed events for motorcycles.
Bridlington I've heared is nice?
Brid is nice but I find its a lot more holiday oriented, I prefere the 'lived in' places.
I spent many happy hours at the bikes in and around the middle of the uk! Never lived too far from a race track. Knock hill is my local circuit now.
Went to Brid in January it was closed
Theres no place better than in and around the North yorkshire moors , we passed there yesterday and it was a lovely day . Whitby is a favourite of our playing the golf on the cliffs over looking the bay . This post has made me smile thinking back to Happy days spent there .
I am jealous
