Channel 5 THURSDAYS (NOT FRIDAY) Nights 10pm - Programme about Walton Centre, Liverpool - Saving Lives! - New Series about Brain Surgery

im watching
Hi Shellesbelle,
What a fascinating programme. I have set my digibox to record every week, in case I don't notice or forget its on. I hope friends and families of people like us with various brain injuries watch it and realise that our after effects are similiar to some of ones mentioned tonight even before they have their operations. Also the neurologists explained well some of the symptoms.
The 1st two questions I was asked when I came round after 3 days, was Do you know where you are and what year is it. I got the right answers and was asked the same every 4 hours when they did meds / checked drips! I hope I get to see as good a neurologist in Feb or March when I have my appointment. My 3rd brain scan comes nect on 18 Feb.
How are you doing this week shellesbelle, are you coping ok? I do hope so, keep writing to us and keep taking photos! Shirley xxxx

thank you for that you get wel to im sure whatever doc you see they will be nice and goo but i no yod feel better with 1s you no or is that jus me nervous i found the headache ladys name ast night i couldnt rember heaches are 3rd to my problems but bad pain killers a sweet do more good but i was told nothing helps this typetake care
I was asked what year is it and had to go through the thought processes of working out , I knew it was Olympics so had to be a year divisible by 4 , so came up with the right one each time, I had to do the processing out loud, so think I impressed everyone with that, it'd have been a lot easier if I could've remembered 2012 though!!!!!!! Xxxxxxx Janet
About time we had such a serious attempt to show the nitty gritty of brain surgery & it was fascinating. The skill involved in such operations is breathtaking........have nothing but the highest regard for these surgeons. Thanks for the alert Shirley.......would've missed it otherwise. xx
I watched it yesterday on Chanel 5 may watch it again if on again tonight brings back memories for me 4.5 years ago with my brain damage
hi clivekeen, hope you are making good progress now and that the memories are not too painful if you watched it again. Sorry I think got the night wrong, could swear I typed Thursday - not Friday in the lead title.. Did you see the 1st Series last year?
id like to see if can get catch up tv not sure, dont no every ones time there but im here typing this and id not fault them at all
Just type 5OD into your search engine & you should get there. x
Hi Cat just tried above - 50D doesn't work for me. I guess that's Demand TV is it, not possible to get it here.
I don't know if i-player covers all channels, I can't receive that over here as I'm on Freesat not Freeview. I've just checked digibox TV guide scrolled down to Channel 5 and scrolled right along the gude. It is showing the programme on tomorrow at 0305 -0355 . O or on your computers check out Channel5.com. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the 'heads up' no pun intended. Had my tbi in november and so glad I found this site it's invaluable.
Hi femmefatale, Glad you found us but sorry to read about your TBI, mine was last March. Hope you are getting good support from everyone. You will find lots of support and help on here if and should you need us. x
missed it but itsvon nxt week ,
Hi Ricozoe, Cat says check out 50D on internet or perhaps on your tv - is it Demand5? x
thanks il get my dghtr to ave a look in a bit wen she comes round ,xxx
Oh sorry everyone, I just realised the title says FRIDAY NIGHTS - I thought I typed in Thursday - best check it out for yourselves but I watched it last night - Thursday!
WOULDN'T MISS IT, HAVE WATCHED THE PREVIOUS SERIES, EXCELLENT. ON LAST NIGHT I FEEL SO MUCH FOR THE LADY WITH CLUSTER HEADACHES, PUT MINE IN THE SHADE.
HOPE SHE'S OK.
I WATCH EVERYTHING I CAN ABOUT BRAINS, I ALWAYS LEARN SOMETHING.
I watch all documentaries and soaps about hospitals and health issues much to my husbands chagrin, he just gets stressed about them, always has even before I was ill. It must have been his worst nightmare when he had to spend so much time with me in hospital, hasn't stopped my love of them.
Janet
I recorded last nights cos it clashed with the prog about piercings, I'll watch it before my husband gets home from work.
Drat I missed it because it read Friday... will try to catch it next time
hi Iforget, so sorry I made mistake corrected later in replies. Cat3 has suggested trying 50D on website search or if you have i-Player on your TV you should still be able to catch up. Yes next week and following, its Thursdys . Not had too good a week this week, much confusion. Start the 1st of 3 appointments, made by new doctor for me, on Monday, so hope getting proper brain related help over here can start to help sort me out after 11mths no related medical support. . Hope you are doing OK or better?. Shirley x
To HEADWAY - I MADE MISTKE PLEASE WOULD YOU ALTER TITLE OF THIS READ THURSDAY NOT FRIDAY - THINK I'M GOING TO HAVE UPSET A FEW PEOPLE GETTING THE DAY WRONG. THANK YOU!
im typing this as they saved my life i no i got lot neuro problems but from near death to neuro illnesses the hospital is clean staff lovely, not a number there your a human my only downfall due 2 postcode i wasnt allowed rehab there and had none after not there falt post codes and laws faltmy new gp is shocked as now ive been left 2 long for rehab i seen 1 phyiso said im stuck as i am now been 2 long i met a lady whod hd same but she was from liverpool so coiluse her mums postcode its worthwatching even jus 2 see how clean it i and how nice your treated profionaly and as person
Scandalous about the no rehab, can't understand why it's too late now, the brain is very plastic and new pathways can be made all the time, just lots of dedication and practice needed, my consultant told me, take juggling, anyone who can juggle has had to learn it and the only way is practice , eventually it works, may take longer with some people so that's the same with other things, don't give up. Xxxxx Janet
didnt know about it..... not sure if I can bring myself to watch. I'll have to watch online.got to chk if there is a ch5 online to watch like there is a bbc iplayer
started to watch the new series then i realised series1 episode 3 had only one day left. I managed to watch it. I guess I was ready. it's sad. I don't really remember much of my surgery and after except that when in ICU I tried to get up to go toilet and they had to insert a catheter cause I wet their bed
Funny how things come back to you, I remember trying to get up for the toilet when I was in the rehab unit, before I could walk and fell, I couldn't find my buzzer, cos of the peripheral vision problem, gashed my forehead and lay on the floor for a while til someone found me. That's when they started clipping my buzzer to my nightie.
