Hi jag66,

Thank you for your question.

We have had reports of a number of claims that were put in around this time still not having been decided upon. This is one of the reasons why the full roll-out of PIP has been delayed for some claimants. For DLA the aim was to have a decision within around 40 days of the claim, so it is clear that they are experiencing quite serious delays with this new benefit.

Have the DWP been able to give you any estimate of how long it should take now?

Best wishes,

Headway

I have phoned least twice a month to both DWP and ATOS only to be told that ATOS haven't finished their part of the process and when the DWP get it they then decide whether I am is eligible. I have emailed by local MP for help this weekend and awaiting a reply. Not impressed by the system as never had to claim for benefits before my accident ,the whole process all such a shock aswell as trying to come to terms with my TBI.

Hi,

Yes, I can certainly understand your frustration - it seems you have been a victim of being one of the first claimants of PIP, which is very unfair.

I think contacting your local MP is a great idea, it's very important they know how these delays are affecting people and hopefully she/he can help directly.

If you'd like to contact our helpline (0808 800 2244 or helpline@headway.org.uk), we can discuss how Headway can support you in the mean time.

Best wishes,

Headway.

Hi Jag66

I had a TBI in 2004. Having applied for DLA, I was initially refused. But I was told to appeal, which I won. I had an interview last year for PIP which I got through too. I hope this information has been of help to you.

I'm in the same situation. Applied on behalf of my partner back in July. I've given up ringing them, it is just so time-consuming at a time when you are trying to cope with the trauma of a brain injury!

Hi all. Ive been waiting for my PIP results for 10 months. Eventually ive got them back today. Unfortunately I've been unsuccessful  The ATOS examiner did NOT include all of my symptoms. He seems too have missed a hell of alot out of the report. He also says I was in the examination for 45 mins when infact it was 15 mins. He also suggested I claim my travel expenses for a taxi fare. He said " I'll say I seen your receipt for this fare". Can anyone please advise me on which route I should take next please. Anything would be much appreciated. Thanks
